A wet and memorable 2nd night in Taipei

I am quite a healthy baby in terms of food considering my mum everyday nags at me and force healthy food down my throat whenever she is free. It's been so long since I ever touch unhealthy deep fried food and gassy drinks like char kway teow, hokkien mee, chicken wings, coke, sprite, etc etc. Irritated with my mum's constant throwing away of my coke and sprites, I haven't been touching these "unhealthy" food for 3, 4 years. Her favorite line being, "Now my eyes see one is hot drinks, later my eyes cannot see then become cold drinks liao. I turn back nia got people want to search for ice to put into the hot drink liao." But then, not my fault also ma, I got low heat threshold!! Dun put ice then how? I never make it super cold also ma the drinks, I only make it lukewarm hahahaha. Ya excuses la, so...u see the pictures in this entry, that explains my frequent trips overseas wahahaha...
Oooohh...thanks to dear Alice who bought all the fruits. They are so sweet, especially the strawberries. Wonder if they had actually soaked these fruits in syrup bo? Anywae who cares, my mum is not around what. Hahaha! Once in a while is ok de. Just dun let her catch these pictures can liao. That big long shaped watermelon here is so so tempting. Didn't try that la. Anywae even if buy also cannot finish lor. The cup of green papaya slices drizzled with passion fruit sauce is not bad too although it's a bit hard la. But i guess that's y it is called green papaya and not ripe papaya ma right? But it taste quite nice la. I don't mind trying it again lor next time I go again.
The "Hong You Chao Shou" are a tad spicy for Taiwanese but to us, it's not hot enough. Hong you chao shou is actually soup wantons, served together with suan cai (sour vegetables) and lots of chillis and chilli oil. Inside not much soup de. Cos you are supposed to eat the soup dumplings without soup. Wahaha again, I think this one everyone can try to follow follow the Taiwanese version and apply it in our singaporean styled wantons right? The gheist of this "hong you chao shou" is all about chillis and chilli oil!
See those sausages that are super long and big in the pictures? Wei made a joke out of it when she went to buy the sausages. Hahaha cos she forgot that they always sell in portions, thus she went to tell the girl selling it that she wants one sausage which made the girl look at her with a shocked expression and tells her "this one cannot buy whole sausage de". Hahahaha can la actually can buy de lor, but hor, who can finish the whole sausage lor. The length is got at least about the width of 3/4 of a keyboard leh! This sausage got many flavors like original, wasabi, black pepper, chilli and even gao liang wine flavor leh!
Alice got so fascinated with the orh lua (oyster pancake) at the night market that she bought a plate of it back to where we are spreading out all the food we have bought. But alas, I think we all reached a conclusion very soon. We all still prefer our Singapore version. Wahahha. It could have tasted better without or just a bit of the pool of red sweet sauce on top of the orh lua. Cos whole taste is like too wet. As if we are eating the sauce instead of the orh lua leh!
We also ate our beloved smelly tofu with a big plate of mango milk ice shaving that comes with lots of sweet mango cubes from our favorite stalls which we always frequent! Yum yum de lor.
Did you see the "Guan Cai Ban" wordings in one of the pictures? I didn't eat it this time round though I did try it during the last trip. It's toasted bread with the top of the bread slices being taken out (like potpie lor) and then filled it in with hot fillings like tuna mayo potage la, and got many many other flavors lor. Again, haha now that I writing this post, I discovered that even this guan cai ban bread also is like our version of pot pie. Really can try making it when you are free lor. Too bad I couldn't find the picture of the guan cai ban which I ate the last time. We shall see if I can find it okies?
